George from West Sussex
George is our Rafferty's litter brother, and lives with Louise and Justin Millais, their son Evan and Bob-the-Terrier. George is their second wolfhound, a half-brother to Clarence who died in June 2008 at just nine months old.

George's typical day is full of dilemmas like which sofa to lie on, and for how long before switching to the other one, and does he really have to get off to eat lunch . . . ?

Louise does have some serious worries about him though - his new friend is a pet rabbit that George loves to sniff and lick . . .  and share his food with! Clearly the boy has some deep-seated psychological problems.

Wherever Evan is George is never far behind. Every day he waits on the sofa looking out of the window for Evan to come home from school - then propels him back through the front door in his excitement!

Louise's three year old grandson, Jasper, attends a local nursery school and is learning about how things grow. He volunteered to bring in "his nan's dog" to demonstrate!

So George visited school, taking with him a photo of himself as a puppy (which Jasper is holding the wrong way round in the photo) so the children could see how much he had grown.
George was very well behaved and liked all the attention. After the children had asked lots of questions they came over to touch and stroke him, and one boy even gave him a kiss. Most of the children had met him before at the nursery gates, and he is used to children and is quite a calm dog, so they were relaxed around him and didn't want to stop touching him. Only one little girl wouldn't pat him, and the only mishap was that he stole a fluffy teddy on the way out!

"Hmm . . . what's that on the air?"
"It smells like cat to me."
"Come out and show yourself!
I know you're hiding somewhere!"
