The Sports Page

Track and Field including: sprints, discus, high jump, long jump and gymnastics.

Water sports: starting with dry training as a puppy, leading to the paddling pool and progressing to supervised swimming practice, the competent swimmer can then enjoy surfing, deep sea paddling, scuba diving and, for the specialist, rabbit snorkelling.

Triathlon: running, swimming and sleeping.

Wrestling: early training with Dad and practice with a sparring partner progressing through unarmed combat to the supreme discipline of cat wrestling.

Ball games: although not noted for their ball skills, wolfhounds have been known to excel at football and of course, their height gives them a distinct advantage when playing basketball.

Then there are wolfhound speciality events such as:
Digging: junior, senior and pairs and
Eating: junior, pairs, and mixed doubles.

And finally, the sport which comes as naturally and beautifully to Irish wolfhounds as football to the Brazilians and long-distance running to the Kenyans -
Sleeping: indoor, outdoor, pairs, mixed doubles, synchronised sleeping
and the team event.
Intensive training in the use of specialised equipment is undertaken by participants, but it must be reported with regret that cheating has been known to occur.
